Event Details

FIREWORKS NIGHT IS SATURDAY 4 NOVEMBER

EVENT PROGRAMME

The fun starts at 6:00pm when a torchlight procession leaves from the Borough Council Offices at Shute End. The procession will be led by St Sebastian’s band and various local dignitaries.  If you have never attended the procession we strongly recommend it. The sight of several thousand people with 500 flaming torches walking down Broad Street is truly memorable!

At the same time the funfair opens on Cantley Field for those who choose not to join the procession, This year the funfair promises to be even bigger than ever with many rides for young children, as well as scary rides for the older ones!

The fireworks start at 7:30pm and the display will be bigger and better than ever and sure to wow the audience just like previous years.

There will also be our usual enormous bonfire of course!

FOOD & DRINK

A number of food vendors will offer a variety of tasty snacks and drinks.

PLEASE NOTE THAT IN THE INTERESTS OF PUBLIC SAFETY NO ALCOHOL IS ALLOWED ON THE FIELD

PARKING

Parking around Cantley Field is very limited so we strongly suggest you park in one of the town centre car parks and enjoy the Torchlight Procession to the field.  All council-run car parks make a nominal £1.00 charge for overnight parking, but please note that those run by Euro Car Parks may charge more.

DOGS

We are aware that many dogs are frightened by fireworks and may react unpredictably, so could be a danger to small children.  We therefore don't encourage people to bring them.  However, if you are convinced that this wouldn't apply to your dog then you can bring it.

PROCEEDS

All proceeds go to local charities.  Our target this year is to raise £25,000 for good causes, so please support us.  This year’s main beneficiaries are listed on the Beneficiaries page.

There are a number of ways to buy tickets, as described on the Buy Tickets page.

THIS EVENT IS RUN ENTIRELY BY VOLUNTEERS WEARING YELLOW LIONS, ROTARY OR UNICORN TABARDS. ALL PROCEEDS GO TO CHARITY.  PLEASE DO NOT BUY FROM ANY UNAUTHORISED  TRADERS WHO MAY SET UP FOR PERSONAL PROFIT.

WARNINGS AND DISCLAIMERS

Torches are sold  at the organisers’ discretion and the purchaser’s own risk.  Leather gloves are recommended.

Please do not bring your own fireworks or sparklers of your own as they would be dangerous in a crowded environment.

Fireworks and fairground attractions can be dangerous. Whilst all reasonable precautions are taken to ensure the safety of spectators, anyone attending does so at their own risk.
